ZUMBA® FOR TEENS

 

​THE ZUMBA® FOR TEENS PROGRAMME IS THE ULTIMATE DANCE-FITNESS PROGHRAMME FOR STUDENTS AGED 12-18.

​

 

Easy-to-learn dance steps, specially choreographed for this age group, and aerobic exercise moves are combined and performed to age-appropriate Latin, chart and international music, incorporating rhythms with international flair. Movements are executed in fast and slow intervals, and the variety of steps work on every part of the body.

FITNESS

ZUMBA® aids weight loss, helps to increase bone density, improves muscular strength and increases blood flow, resulting in more energy.

Not all teenagers consider themselves athletic or feel comfortable participating in team sports. ZUMBA® gives them an individual route to fitness whilst doing an activity many enjoy. Introducing non-athletic teenagers to ZUMBA® can create a positive association with fitness they may not get from their usual school P.E class.

ACCEPTANCE

ZUMBA® is designed to be non-judgmental and accepting of all body sizes, levels of fitness, styles, ability and approaches to the dance moves. Nobody is keeping score and if a student forgets a step, they aren’t letting the team down. The instructor cultivates an attitude of acceptance and inclusion; something teens need at this key point in their development.

CONFIDENCE & PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT

As children age into their adolescent years, self-esteem usually declines but findings show that “participation in physical activities, and especially vigorous physical activities, may help some youth traverse this difficult period.”*

​

A ZUMBA® class seeks to promote and accept the individual, allowing each student to express themselves freely and without judgement. Accepting your body and the way it moves leads to increased confidence, higher self-esteem and improved self-image. Decreased anxiety and depression, an improved mood and outlook, better behaviour and longer and more restful sleep can also be expected as a result.

INCREASED COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

A study made on exercise and childhood intelligence, cognitive and academic achievement found that “exercise training programmes may prove to be simple, yet important, methods of enhancing aspects of children’s mental functioning that are central to cognitive and social development.”**

ZUMBA® boosts brain-cell growth, stimulates the birth of new neurons and improves memory due to enhanced brain metabolism. It also leads to increased attention span and improved concentration.

about the classes

A typical ZUMBA® for Teens class is 45 minutes or 1 hour long and specially designed for students of this age group to combine music, movement and community.

Each class includes:

 

  • warm-up section;

  • specially-choreographed, teen-friendly, easy-to-follow dance routines to a mix of international music from around the world (including salsa, hip-hop, cumbia, reggaeton, soca, bhangra, African, merengue and much, much more) plus popular UK chart hits and;

  • cool-down section and stretches

 

…all whilst keeping the emphasis of the class firmly on FUN! 

 

ZUMBA® for Teens classes are all-inclusive and cater for all levels of ability and fitness.
